Music: 3 Doors Down - Let Me Go Well you're right, the weeks are getting busier than ever. Many amusing things pass my way. A quick spree, the occasional accidental blooper, the quiet conversations, the pleasant surprises, the nasty shocks. But even then, nothing can be said to be different and the important thing still remains - to do and be better than last year. They say resolutions can never be fulfilled but I'd like to think that the changes you make to achieve that resolution has more impact than actually completing it. Anyway, went to apply for my I/C today at the ICA. Finally, a symbol of freedom? Or another form of control on us? Well, whatever it is, nc16 movies are now in the clear and i'm now a true citizen of singapore. Hmm. On a final note, thanks to everybody who wished me a happy birthday and for all the gifts and company too. =) Tuesday, February 15, 2005 Fifteen on the Fifteenth
Music: Jamie Cullum - Twentysomething Fifteen years old seems like a milestone. Its the mid-point between ten and twenty. When you're ten, many things in life feel surreal. Days fly by and everybody's trying to have so much fun. And as the saying goes, "time flies when you're having fun". However, as you enter a higher level of education, the pressure builds up as more and more requirements are piled up onto you. Academic work like assignments, projects, worksheets and essays multiply and co-curricular activities add a greater restrain on your freedom. Issues with your friends and at home with your family have to be resolved. Even getting through everyday school life and society is a task. Decisions to make at every turn. Information to be recalled from your work during tests and exams. The growing stress from all the requirements that you have to fulfill. Isn't it just too much being barely one-fifth into your life? (That's an estimate of course. I'm not sure if everybody will live to the senile age of 75 at this rate) Yet, for most people, fifteen is the age when one would go through a metamorphosis and hopefully turn out for the better. So that perhaps when one reaches twenty, it is possible to look at life in a new perspective. Its uncertain what direction anybody's life is headed in at this stage but no matter what happens, everybody hopes that they will achieve whatever they've set themselves toward and finally, some peace. And the nostalgia sets in. Friday, February 11, 2005 Following the Lunar Calendar
Music: Mario - Let Me Love You Well its already friday, which is quite late for saying Happy Chinese New Year! But anyway, nothing too eventful these past few days. Basically just a road trip to the various relatives, some of which, I didn't even know existed. Singapore, so many people in such a small space but still there's no time for each other. Living hurried, distant lives. On an interesting note, I am surprisingly eager to get back to school. The monotony in school is far less demanding than the monotony you face staying at home munching up Chinese New Year goodies. What makes Chinese New Year any different from the New Year we celebrate on January the 1st? Anyway, thanks to bryan, chang and sean for the sojourn around orchard! Haven't had one in ages. Or so it seems. Sunday, February 06, 2005 The Rippling Aftereffects
Music: Jessica Simpson - With You School's been a whirlwind the past few days but naturally with the proper paradigm, getting through the mayhem is never impossible. So as life goes on, starting in a new direction seems to come with new things. Recently upgraded my (almost) two years old and rotting away-6610 with a slightly larger but also more equipped 6670. More functions, more capability but what's the big deal? I'm still going to use it solely for what it is: A phone. So many new things in life for me nowadays, but I see that there's no point bragging about it, which I used to do. Material wealth is only momentary and better phones, cars, computers still serve the same and most important function that it was meant to. I will just have to say that I'm really thankful. Anyway, chinese new year is coming around soon. Those loud screechy mandarin songs all over the place. Kinda annoying. We're going to have a really short school week though =) |
